Wazir: A review

Watched Wazir. Thrilled and enamored. Starring AB, Farhan, the gorgeous Aditi Rao Hydari, John Abraham, and Neil Nitin Mukesh. There are others, especially, Manav Kaul, who plays the cunning, manipulative politician and does a stunning job. The cold killer look is a complete contrast to his soft Kashmiri good looks. The cast is a hit!

Wazir has a tight plot, thank god for that!
Seriously, of late, I have been observing that movies are made on flimsy non-existing plots. The saving grace being the audience with a dedicated almost feverish desire to sit through the entire hogwash.

Wazir has a stupendous performance from Mr. B and my latest crush, Farhan Akhtar. (I always have this feeling that Farhan resembles Suku so much, wonder why!) I got hooked to the idea of watching Wazir since the time I saw the trailer. Yea, I know, trailers are meant to lure you in. I got sucked right in. Damn! It was worth it though. Each frame screamed brilliance and Bejoy Nambiar's splendid finesse shone through. I loved the idea of using the chessboard as a metaphor screamed for an applause.

The subtle but manipulative game between AB and Farhan is a must watch. One must watch Wazir for their on screen chemistry. I do not know if AB is lucky to work with Farhan or vice versa. The way the first half is designed and put together is amazing. The taut story line keeps you thoroughly engaged and riveted. A few notches higher than the usual films released dime a dozen.

Thank god there is no ageing hero wearing leather jackets trying to look cool and trying to woo aging heroines! Anyway...

Wazir made me sit up and take note of the task that a director has at hand. It became very clear that he had deftly handled the nuances and offered the audience, almost reverentially, a piece of genius. Aditi's performance is enthralling and she does an amazing job.

The review is incomplete without a mention for our own blink-and-miss Neil Nitin Mukesh who gives a controlled performance as the shadowy Wazir. Neil doesnt get much to do but he sends down a chill with his kohl-lined eyes and the menacing dagger. I liked the idea of the dagger being attached to the chain...Mallu brilliance at work! Have been a great fan of Bejoy after watching the very dark Shaitaan. Missed David because of many reasons, but, methinks will pick it up. A lot of IM has gone in before this film hit the screens.

Wazir, is a must watch.
